Learn More
Letitia James is the first Black woman to win a major party statewide nomination. With a long history of advocating for and with her community, James has proven her commitment to fighting for the interests of our community by standing up to Trump - and Wall Street. James was the first Black woman elected to citywide office in NY. Having served on the NYC City Council (04-13) and currently serving as NYC Public Advocate, James is well prepared to take on the position of Attorney General. James has made criminal justice reform a top priority - commiting to “champion legislation to create a commission to hold prosecutors accountable; push to end unnecessary and harmful police secrecy; lead the way on real criminal discovery reform.” When it comes to immigration, James has worked one on one, pro bono legal work representing immigrant youths. Further, she has submitted lawsuits against the Muslim ban and ICE. Not only does James support medicaid expansion and the rights of women to make their own health decisions, as attorney general she plans to investigate fake crisis pregnancy clinics, protect access to birth control, and protect women from workplace discrimination by establishing a Wage Discrimination Task Force.
