This November, let’s send a message that we will defend our rights, demand economic and social justice and elect candidates who will stand with us.
Ben Jealous for Governor
Ben Jealous has worked with campaigns to abolish the death penalty for children, as well as campaigns to criminalize the abused of imprisoned people. His campaign focuses on the need for new leadership in Maryland around criminal justice, mass incarceration, police reform, student debt, access to quality education for K-college. He currently works as an investor at Kapor Capitol.
Ben Cardin for US Senate
Sen. Ben Cardin is a senior Democratic US Senator running for re-election. In 2015 Cardin sponsored the BALTIMORE act, this legislation would have prohibited racial profiling, improved crime data collection, and targeted excessive use of force if passed. It’s important to note that the murder of Freddie Gray was not the impetus for Cardin’s support of issues on policing – he is a long time sponsor of and advocate for legislation focusing on policing and mass incarceration. When it comes to immigration, Cardin does not support Trump’s immigration policies, such as the border wall, defunding sanctuary cities, and child separation policies. Cardin is pro-choice advocate and supports Medicaid expansion under the ACA.
When it comes to issues concerning our community, Ben Cardin stands with us.
